Entrepreneurs must learn how to work from home

If you want to know how to work from home you must learn how to discipline yourself at all costs.  It's a common misconception that since you work from home, you can now get up when you want, go to bed when you want, write your own checks and much more.  The fact of the matter is if you don't schedule yourself accordingly, feed your mind accordingly and make specific demands on yourself you will never learn how to work from home. We can learn from an ancient biblical proverb

(Proverbs 24:33-34) 33 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— 34 and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.

Here are a few tasks I am going to cover that are imperative to your future in learning how to work from home.

  • Daily Scheduling
  • Eating Habits
  • Morning Motivation
  • Mid Afternoon snack
  • Evening Motivation

     It can be a bit of a bore day after day making your calls with only yourself to talk to at the water cooler.  You may have scheduled your calls out and you have the discipline to know that you must make money so you must make calls and connections with your prospects.  But when it comes to the real 'how to work from home' discipline of a truly successful person; you have to add a few key things to your schedule or your energy will burn out and your mind will forget why it was so great for you to work from home and fire your traditional Boss. 

     Your schedule must also include waking up to some very important things that are essential and if you really pay attention, these morning essentials are practiced by 90% of the successful people you know.

  1. You should wake up to morning stretches or excercise
  2. You should eat a light breakast containing high- fiber complex carbohydrates such as fruit and whole grains
  3. You should listen to something motivational or inspirational
  4. You should pray and/or be filled with gratitude for the wonderful blessings your higher power has already given you.
  5. You should review your yearly, monthly, weekly and daily goals.

As simple as this all sounds it is really conducive to learning the unspoken secrets of a successful entreprener who has learned how to work from home effectively.  Your afternoon habits are just as key to your morning habits!  After 4 hours of hard work on your computer or on the phone you MUST give yourself a break.  Being your own boss is more challenging than you think!  For years I have been a workaholic that will work straight through breakfast, lunch, mid morning snacks and even dinner.  Although you may work like a robot relentlessly, you must add a mid afternoon motivational break and a lunch.  Schedule 15 minutes to turn that inspirational dvd or mp3 back on.  It can make the rest of the day be just as potent as the beginning of the day.  Practicing this habit provides a fantastic recharge.  Take another glance at your daily task list.  It will help you stay on track with your goals.  I have also found that drinking a green tea mid day boosts my energy and really makes the rest of the day ride out with high energy.
